According to 4Waste:
“Plastic recycling is very important and must be taken seriously. Plastics make up a huge amount of solid waste and take centuries to break down in a landfill or the ocean. Therefore, all recyclable plastics should be recycled to reduce landfall, conserve energy and conserve the environment.”
The practice of recycling has its brilliant moments from time to time, and the story about Goby the Fish is one of them.
Instead of placing the boring garbage cans around the beach, people decided to use barbed wire and mesh and make a giant sculpture of a fish with a sign that said: “Goby loves plastic, please feed him”.
This made children want to feed Goby, and thus recycle plastics.
Until the present day, Goby is constantly being fed, and sometimes, he even gets more than he can eat in a day. During the night, it is taken away by the city in order to be emptied and brought back to the beach in the morning hungry and willing to be fed again.
What a fantastic idea, isn’t it?
