Egg lovers you are warned! Researchers have reported that consuming more than 2 eggs everyday can increase your risk of death, while also developing cardiovascular diseases.
Published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the study tracked the health, diets, and lifestyle habits of nearly 30,000 adults in the US for as long as 31 years.
It was reported that the cholesterol in eggs, when eaten in large quantities, is linked with ill health effects, according to Katherine Tucker, Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the US.
As per the US Department of Agriculture, just 1 large egg contains nearly 200 milligrams of cholesterol, which is approximately the same amount as an 8-ounce steak.
Consuming more than 300 milligrams of cholesterol daily was linked with a 17% higher risk of cardiovascular disease, and also 18% higher risk of death.
“Consuming several eggs per week is reasonable, but it is recommend for people to avoid consuming 3 egg omelettes daily. Nutrition is all about blance and moderation,” according to Tucker.
